2023 Mini Cooper S hardtop

many went through a full refresh last

year today many of Wesley Chapel has

given us the 2023 Mini Cooper S hardtop

in that British racing green the iconic

mini comes into play this year we have

all the exterior elements blacked out we

do get a new Resolute Edition in the

rebel green paint with a special seat

cover inside our Cooper heads up display

nearly fully loaded except for the

delete for the heated steering wheel

this is going after Rivals like your

Hyundai Kona your Mazda MX-5 your Toyota

gr-86 but the difference between all of

them this is going to ride like a

go-kart it's going to be a little bit

more playful I'm Anthony from Hawkeye

rods and I'm going to go over all the

specs and details starting now

foreign

[Music]

the new Mini Cooper S hardtop is going

to emphasize everything on the front

fascia for that Grill it's going to be a

cleaner look less Parts emphasizing the

hexagonal Grille you're going to get the

gloss black on the top and it adds a

piece in the center so that way we can

have the same color paint as the rest of

the vehicle so that way you can really

tell the difference between this model

maybe a 2021 on the top we got the mini

badges blacked out we still have the air

vent on the Bonnet non-functional which

are LED headlamps and I do like how it's

blacked out instead of getting the

Chrome because this makes it look a lot

more new in fresh even though last year

they were emphasizing the Chrome

blacking it out I think really does give

this a nice set on the lower you're

going to have your functional air inlets

for your brakes that's highlighted in

the gloss black The Grille is also

bigger than the prior generation and I

do like how the air inlets here on the

center make it still look more

aggressive especially when you're

looking at this comparing it to any

other the rivals the way this sits it's

going to be higher up it's going to be

wider and it's going to project more of

a fun riding vehicle the matte black is

going to wrap around these 17-inch rail

spoke two-tone Wheels the famous side

Scuttle with the engine with your LED

turn light taking it to the back with

your Union Jack LED tail lamps cleaning

up the rear as much as possible focusing

on the lower part of the bumper for your

Center dual exhaust Outlets they're

going to be blacked out you're going to

get the matte black around it you're

going to get the Grille pattern on top

of it reverse parking sensors with the

reverse camera a Mini Cooper badge

blacked out and with this British racing

green I think it just screams more of a

performance and I like how they pay

attention to detail with everything on

the exterior of this vehicle because it

just keeps its Sleek just like the

original Mini Behind These 17-inch

Wheels the front disc reading at 11.6

inches the rear at 10.2 a McPherson

front suspension multi-link rear

suspension but the front and the rear

will have your coil springs and your

anti-roll bars a length at 152.8 inches

which is not going to be the longest in

the comparison this one also is going to

sit up a little higher like we were

saying earlier if you're looking at it

from the Mazda MX-5 but when we're

comparing it to the Kona this one's

going to be pretty close hand in hand

now this is going to be a little bit

longer the wheelbase at 98.2 inches I do

like how we get the gloss black on the

front a pillars and how they do that on

the rest of the window seals because it

really gives a clean polished look

keeping the silver wraps around all of

the vehicle because it keeps the

heritage of the Mini Cooper and The

Styling is going to be simple and yet

pleasing to the eye so it's not over the

top you're not looking for something

that's like oh my God is this an M

performance you're looking for a go-kart

and that's what you're getting go inside

to your cargo at 8.7 cubic feet there is

storage underneath the floor the rear

bench splits to a 60 40 split maxing

your cargo to 34 cubic feet but the best

part about a mini is the mini Twin power

turbo engine so we've got to go inside

give it some ribs so you can hear that

exhaust now

[Music]

foreign

the soundtrack that you get out of the

Mini Cooper S definitely is a delight

and I like that it has its own unique

style to it it's not going to be the

same necessarily as the VFW it sets

itself in a different class and it backs

the performance with a 2.0 liter mini

Twin power turbo four-cylinder engine

producing 189 horsepower and 207

pound-feet of torque that's paired to a

7-speed DCT automatic transmission

achieving 28 to 38 MPGs that's good for

a 0-60 around 6.4 seconds with a quarter

mile at 14.7 seconds with a top speed at

143 miles per hour stopping 70 to zero

around 158 feet this computes to making

it faster than the Hyundai Kona it's

faster than the Mazda MX-5 it's going to

be a little bit slower than the Toyota

gr 86 but what you get with this the

go-kart fun to drive everyday vehicle

all Blended in let me know in the

comment it's what you think about the

2023 Mini Cooper S hard top two doors we

go into the interior go over the tech

and take this for our test run entering

inside the Mini Cooper S hard top two

door is going to receive over 40 inches

of Headroom and over 41 inches of leg

room so this is actually going to be

better than your Mazda MX-5 the Toyota

gr 86 and the Hyundai Kona with

leatherette carbon black sports bucket

front seats they're heated and I like

the bolstering to them even though it's

manual with the manual cushion

extensions I let a little bit of things

slide because it's a Mini Cooper very

cleaned up and it has to start off with

the steering wheel because it's driver

Focus it's Napa leather you'll have the

flat black high gloss for your

multi-button structures paddle shifters

that are also flat the gauge cluster is

seamless and digital you can change a

few things on there and you can also

change from your green your mid to your

sport the heads up display I do like it

because I can actually see it with

polarized glasses and it comes out and

it goes in through a screen I also like

how it's so rounded inside because it

really gives us all the width from the

exterior and it brings it onto the

interior the dash is going to be simple

and modern and that's what many were

stressing with the full redesign from

last year it sets with an 8.8 inch

touchscreen with navigation so we have

the pinch we have the swipe click into

your home button so you can see that we

have the quick wedges and you can slide

through here there's a lot of different

pages there click into your apps so you

can see everything we have wireless

Apple carplay Amazon Alexa streaming

Bluetooth connectivity Sirius XM FM AM

switch it to reverse you have a reverse

camera with full trajectory and it has

your reverse sensors so it does make it

easy for your reversing I wish like I

say in a lot of my Mini Cooper reviews

that this was the whole screen because

it's so cool what they do the lights

that illuminate right when you change

the air condition or your heat it will

change from cool to hot when you're

racing the vehicle it can go for your

RPMs just really nice little touches

that they put when you're backing up it

will also alert you through that so you

have so much cool stuff that comes out

of this little circle just make it a

bigger screen maybe that would probably

make it a lot more nice the gloss black

is going to be on all of your air vents

ambient lighting that's going to be

underneath dual climate control settings

I like the rally toggle switches and

pushed to start and even on the top they

do the same thing so it is super cool

that they're giving us this race

Heritage the BMW look for your gear

lever you have a little storage tray

underneath with two USB ports a 12 volt

cup holder is a 16.9 ounce fits without

any issues I would say you could fit

probably about a 20 ounce your I drive

Mouse open up inside and you got your

wireless charging pad open up again and

now you have nothing and you can also

adjust this to make it easy easy for

somebody tall like me that is definitely

a plus it's going to be more firm where

your elbows rest door panel is going to

be harder materials I do like how they

keep it simple and plain with the

ambient lighting one touch up and down

for all the windows and the storage

pocket is actually pretty large when

you're comparing it to the rivals this

one definitely has a pretty sufficient

amount of storage in the front upgraded

Harman Kardon stereo system you have two

sunroofs so everybody's taken care of

for their vitamin D let's see how I look

in the back for the back seat Headroom

isn't actually that bad nor is legroom

if the driver isn't six foot three if

you're tall you're obviously not going

to fit behind the driver just hit

yourself behind the passenger where you

rest your elbows it's going to be harder

materials you get the Harman Kardon

stereo system and a cup holder that can

fit probably a 16.9 ounce water bottle

here in the center you don't have

anything to rest your elbow so you have

to kind of Lean Like This whenever

you're doing your little Rally or your

go-kart racing around but I do like the

fact that I can fit back here and you

have the windows that are not so small

so there's no claustrophobic feel Plus

like I was saying in the front you have

your own Moon Room taking the 2023 Mini

Cooper S hard top two-door out for our

test run 189 horsepower with 207

pound-feet of torque 0-60s in the mid

six seconds so you have the phone

capabilities wheelbase is around 95

inches that's why it feels like a

go-kart because you're right on top of

the front wheels so when you turn it's

instant it's the only vehicle of its

kind that has the fun and that's what

we're going to show you in just a few

seconds so we're going to pull out here

we go

just your regular Drive hitting around

two RPMs feels nice and settle

visibility is great because it's a

smaller car the British racing green

definitely gives it that style to show

you some of the fun

let me show you the brakes

definitely the best of both worlds we're

going to pull over here and stop in the

middle of the road so you can really see

what it is

make sure we're in sport mode here we go

[Music]

it's a fun vehicle and you get an

exhaust note that is really cool too

because when you get in these smaller

Vehicles you don't really get an exhaust

note you just hear a lot of road noise

mini seals it up pretty decent it's not

very noisy and the vehicle wheels are

not very big so the rod quality is going

to be a little bit more comfortable too

you will still feel some of the bumps

though because it's a smaller vehicle

there's no way around it and it doesn't

feel so wide for the exterior even

though it is a wider stance in the front

and on the rear track so I do like the

fact that it really has every Dynamic of

many and they just move forward each

year

foreign

[Music]

it's a very fun playful vehicle the

Dynamics are right on point you feel

like you can just do anything with this

little pocket rocket and yes it's not

going to be the fastest vehicle by any

standard but you're gonna feel the speed

even if it's not that fast now there is

three things I like it three things that

I dislike is anything more than that I'd

be buying this cooperettes the three

things that I like the heads-up display

is my favorite of all because I could

see it with polarized glasses so that

means any glass that you wear for your

eyes you're going to be able to see it

there's a flip side to it I'm a little

tall the second thing that I like about

the vehicle is the lights that

illuminate around the 8.8 inch

infotainment screen because it's just

awesome I mean look at this when you put

it on hot or cold if you're ripping up

the vehicle when you're backing up it

just illuminates different colors so

it's just very Lively inside the

interior and the last thing that I like

about the vehicle is how everything is

blacked out because it makes a very

seamless look especially for the iconic

LED headlamps that we have for the Mini

Cooper badging and then bringing into

the interior around your air vents they

just did a great job sculpting the

vehicle from the exterior and on the

interior on the flip side three things

that I dislike because I'm taller I have

to kind of sit down like this it's a

little bit uncomfortable because of the

way the seat adjustment is yes you can

move the seat but it's a little bit

tough to find a happy medium because

it's manual seat adjustment the second

thing that I dislike about the vehicle

is the amount of harder materials

obviously you get used to it and this

happens in a lot of Brands don't get me

wrong it's just when you're hovering

near a forty thousand dollar price point

you really don't want to have so much

hard materials where you rest your arms

or your elbow turn radius and more or

less a stop point this is that go card

about not even two lanes some gas

foreign

it's really hard to say negativity about

it because it just keeps putting a smile

on your face whenever you give it the

throttle we're going to switch it into

the green mood

that way we can get optimal gas

consumption

the pedal

necessarily heavy

heavy I do like that BMW make sure the

mini always has power underneath the

mini twin-powered turbo engine the last

thing that I dislike about the vehicle

is where you rest your legs or feet on

any side of the vehicle it's not

necessarily going to be the most

comfortable to ride so you kind of sit

up yes you have cushion extensions in

the front but because they're not power

adjustment seats you're not going to

feel a happy medium especially if you're

tall like me and even in the back seat

you don't have a lot of feet space or

leg space so obviously it's a smaller

car and it's not necessarily meant for

taller people can tall people fit yes

they can for a long journey it's going

to be where are you going to have to

stop here and there to take a rest maybe

walk it off but as for that fun drive

definitely is captured the exterior

elements definitely sets itself apart

from the rivals which one would I choose

over all of the rivals I like the mini a

little bit better unless I'm going to

the cone where it has the inline that

thing is just crazy then I like this

better than the MX-5 unless

I was a little bit shorter than I think

I would enjoy it a little bit more the

Dynamics to this just is a little bit of

a different Essence both two of them are

great vehicles and if I'm comparing it

to the Toyota gr 86 I actually had more

fun in a Toyota Corolla manual than I

did in the manual gr 86 even though

that's a little bit faster I'm just

sewing I'm just stressing the funness of

the vehicle it's also a little bit

smaller so for tall people this one

pretty much captures everything because

you don't really have to worry if you

are over six foot tall you can still fit

you will have some issues here because

you have the sun visor here on the

driver's side but overall great vehicle

I like the performance to it and it has

great gas consumption I like to thank
